Here I find myself watching a rather odd advertisement/PR film. It's about this slightly overweight blonde sort of standard looking middle class white woman with dirty blonde curly hair. Because of a medical condition she briefly had to receive government disability payments for a period and this whole video is designed to show how this doesn't make her a terrible and/or lazy person. Yes, she admits, she accepted $4000 in disability payments from the government last year and only for a brief period, but she is not a terrible human being because of this, or a worthless poor. That's the whole point to the film.
It even then cuts to her boyfriend, who's this typical artsy/fartsy looking white dude with a brown sort of moppy bowl cut with lazy chin hair and an unkempt mustache. He's being interviewed while this woman is getting disability payments and he assures the viewer that his girlfriend isn't just lying around sucking off the government teat. This cuts to footage of them sitting in their breakfast pantry. See, she's busily working on her computer on various projects when she has the energy. She just couldn't perform her job for a period because of a medical condition. This is why she took that $4000 from the government. Again, this is not because she's a super lazy or terrible person. That's the whole point to the video.
As a viewer, I actually feel horrible for these people and the fact that there's actually a need for this sort of advertisement/Tik Tok/YouTube PR video in the waking world sucks. And yet, I'm well aware of exactly why it needs to exist.
My vision then cuts to a bank. There are tons of over the top huge "Free Candy" bowls on all the bank teller counters. I would think that I shouldn't even have to explain this rather obvious metaphor.
