Now, I’m not saying I’m a supporter of the surveillance state or anything like that. It’s hyper creepy as all get out. As a matter of fact, before I even get into that level of sketch I’ll first focus on the bright side. One thing that no one seems to philosophically contemplate nearly enough these days is how quickly we’ve plunged ourselves into increasingly fantasy centric lifestyles. Why is that? Our lives are cripplingly boring and we’re forced into these alternate dimensions of thought as a reflex. I mean, how many of us actually find any sort of fulfillment in our supposed “careers”. Like 2% optimistically? I think I’m being generous with that. I mean, increasingly intertwined mind rape corporations are currently taking home record profits, and who the fuck grows up thinking, “I want to work at the Pizza Hut corporate office one day.” Fucking no one….ever…and yet, uber boring places like that are where a crap ton of us end up, gladly, because the alternative is further selling our lives down the rabbit hole of higher education, which may or may not make things better for us and costs an ass ton of money. Oh wait, I’m supposedly talking about the good things in life here aren’t I? Well, the good news is that this consumerist culture we’ve created has given us the tools to completely implode into our own little micro-verses quite effectively.
It is so odd to think about the fact that I was one of the first generations to grow up addicted to video games and that the video games I grew up with basically sucked. I barely even used the internet until I was in college. Seriously. That’s how quick this shit is moving. I have my entire music collection at my fingertips at all times these days. It took me years of obsessively combing CD stores to find half that stuff. Just mindblowing potentialities here but we’ve got to pull our shit together. More importantly, we’ve got to ask ourselves why we’re increasingly fleeing inwardly into the realms of our wildest imaginations? I mean, TV is a relatively new invention. When you think back on most of human history, it was plays and books, occasionally. It used to be hard to find decent entertainment in most places in the world. We’re now consuming a constant stream of exotic information all day every day.
I suppose magick has a lot to do with regulating that intake to your distinct advantage, but it also has a lot to do with looking at these things subjectively and metaphorically rather than in the objective literal way we’re trained by our culture. There’s only so far you can go with that. We’ve created enough bizarre wasteful techno knick knacks to power our lives for another trillion centuries. At what point do we break free from the idea that we should continue churning them out and start making them turn us in. The best things in life like dreaming, fucking, and smoking weed have always been cheap or free. Psychedelic mushrooms haven’t gone up in price a cent in the nearly 20 years I’ve been taking them. Almost all forms of consumable art now cost a fraction of what they used to and if you live near a decent library, might not cost you a dime. There’s just such an oversaturation of great art these days and most of it is cheap. This is the sort of thing people actually want to be doing with their time rather than making creepy people rich and real artists do it for spiritual reasons, not to make a buck. From a more Occult perspective, this is entirely metaphorical. For all intents and purposes, there are an infinite number of wonderous internal caverns of thought at your fingertips at any given time. It all hints at a glorious conjoined telepathy between distant stars, or a longing for one at the very least.
Okay, feel better now. Good, time to get into the icky stuff. We’re also using these fantastical conjunctive algorithms to completely neutralize any sort of threat to the established power structure. Man, the sort of wire tap nonsense our activist forefathers and mothers had to deal with is nothing compared to how they’ve got us by the balls now. If you want to put up any sort of significant political interference at this point, you’ve got to be squeaky fucking clean. I mean, now that weed’s legal in Washington I often find myself thinking, what do they really have on me if they went digging? Not much, but they’ve been suiciding the opposition for years now so how is this any worse? It’d just be so easy now to take anyone down, and moreover, there’s just so much more of a stench of skeeze about it all. The first words out of my mouth when all the shit hit the fan with the Snowden leaks was “Beautiful women of the world, be afraid, be very afraid”. If you don’t think some of these NSA tools are checking for naked selfies of their favorite barista the second they get on the clock you’re either insane or in complete denial about the way male psychology actually works.
But I digress, what I’m really getting at here has to do with a parallel narrative interpenetrating our reality. In much the same way we’re clawing free from our physical limitations through leisure art escape, we’re also being forced to confront something incredibly primal about our spiritual nature with all this ramped up surveillance, namely, that we’re not at all alone in our own heads. At the heart of nearly every transcendent mindgasm freak out lies some variation on the theme of conjoined consciousness. We’re all one dude. And if you think about it, if we are all one (and I’ve been shown that on one level of reality we are) than it would stand to reason that we’d have access to thoughts and other areas of exotic dark mind we’d all love to consider private. It’s this belief in the private nature of our inner worlds that drives us to make such supremely hilarious characters, but it’s also that very concept of vulnerable or shared thought space that we must confront when pursuing telepathy and it’s not comfortable terrain for us. These aren’t things that would have occurred to me on my own, it has to happen to you before you start contemplating the implications.
Part of why I talk about my dialogue with what classic Occultists would call my Holy Guardian Angel continually on Facebook (friend me)has to do with me seeing social media as being an insanely novel means of externalizing external states of consciousness. Fuck reality TV. Where’s the reality there? You can’t even see what these halfwits are thinking. We can go more extreme than that. Okay I must now confess that as much as I post internal weirdness online, one of the more interesting aspects I ran into keeping a real time magick blog had to do with the realization that I’m actually editing out roughly 80% of what’s going on because it’s just too personal. It wasn’t until I started tracking it better that I realized how much there actually was going down underneath the surface that I don’t feel remotely comfortable talking about as of yet.
As a matter of fact, after nearly a decade of continually sailing the seas of Occult dementia, the first question I would ask anyone interested in pursuing such an art would be: how well do you handle criticism? If you do manage to open up this dialogue, the forces you’re conversing with aren’t going to care for your bullshit. They’re you. You can’t lie to your higher self. It knows everything about you. This idea that you’re separate from one another is an illusion. When you reach out to these forces, you’re probably going to ask for something worldly and don’t think they’re going to accomplish these things for you, they’re going to turn you in the person that’s capable of accomplishing them in the first place. It’s harder work than anything you’re going to be asked to do in your dumbass career. You can’t lie to them, and trust me, if you manage to initiate this dialogue with the 5th dimension, you’d better fucking listen.
I’ve been repeatedly shown in these states that there’s some profound connection between what I’m encountering and UFO phenomenon, which is odd for me to accept. I’ve never seen a UFO, never met a grey, never been abducted. They always present themselves to me as me. I am a UFO apparently. Weeks back in some various state of stoned intoxication, I was told that the greatest barrier preventing our communion with these higher dimensional beings has to do with the terror we feel in knowing they can get inside our heads. Of course this lead me to fantasies of government officials creating an entire culture of denial based on a chance encounter with a telepathic hippie on galactic spring break. What if that’s why the government started lying about it all in the first place? They were just too weirded out by this thing’s mind connective super drugs. But maybe it goes deeper than that.
Maybe this mass surveillance plotline and social media exposition is designed to slowly make us more comfortable with the idea that our thoughts are not our own, and our lies aren’t fooling anyone. If we’re to brave the new frontier of exotic dark mind, we must first confront the idea that in the great psycho-drama we call life, the audience might just be able to read all our expository back stories and future potentialities just by projecting themselves into our souls through their trance inducing black hole eyes. It’s what any number of these supposed UFO contactees have been talking about for years, and I’ve encountered the same themes through alternate channels. You can’t lie to these things. The only way to make them go away is to confront them, and we’re not going to do that by sitting around crying about the NSA.
